Peonie Season
We absolutely love Peonie Season and take pride in sourcing the absolute best peonies available. Our peonies will be online very soon and we will also have a peonie subscription available, lasting the 8 weeks of the French season.
The first peonies of the year are from France, definitely the best peonies in the world in our opinion. Coral Charm (One layer of petals) and Coral Sunset (multiple layers of beautiful petals) are the first to be cut. The season in France generally starts around the last week of March and lasts for 2 to 2 and half months. The creams are the next peonies harvested and the full selection of colours are usually available about 3 weeks into the season. If you are in the south of France in the spring and have a chance to visit the auction we highly recommend it. The Dutch season generally starts around the end of April and is in full swing by the end of May. The U.K also have some amazing peonie growers and the short season here generally falls into the same time as the Dutch season, beginning around mid May and ending in June.
Some of the most popular varieties of Peonies are:
Sara Bernhardt (pink)
Coral Charm and Coral Sunset
Duchess (white)
Claude Tain (white)
Mother’s Choice (blush pink)
Command Performance (red)
Odile (cream)
Salmon Saucer
Jules Ellie (mid pink)
Red Sarah Bernhardt (cerise)
